From May 7 to 14, 2024, LBV AVOCATS was represented by Mickaël LE BORLOCH in China as part of the exchange between the ROUEN Bar Association and the NINGBO Bar Association.

NINGBO is a Chinese city with a population of 10 million, located approximately 200 kilometers south of Shanghai. It is currently the world’s largest port in terms of revenue and the third largest in terms of container volume. It was therefore logical for the city of NINGBO to be twinned with the port of ROUEN, now known as HAROPA (which includes the ports of Le Havre, Rouen, and Paris). The delegation from the Rouen Bar had the opportunity to meet with politicians, industrialists, and lawyers. The delegation was welcomed in several law firms as well as at the NINGBO Bar Association.

Meetings with the lawyers provided the opportunity to establish partnerships in business law, labor law, as well as intellectual property law and new technologies.

The firm has already had the opportunity to work with one of its partners on the analysis of an international contract involving French, Chinese, and American companies. The establishment of a Franco-Chinese network of colleagues, combined with Mickaël LE BORLOCH’s experience in American law (having studied and worked in the United States), enables the firm to assist its clients not only in the analysis of legal rules but also in considering judicial risks and the measures to be implemented to mitigate them.

The firm has also proposed the writing of articles with a colleague specializing in intellectual property law and new technologies (including artificial intelligence). We will write articles analyzing French, European, and Chinese laws in these areas to popularize their application and help companies find solutions.

The establishment of partnerships also allows the firm to offer cultural mediation and intermediation, enabling entrepreneurs to find concrete solutions to local particularities.

LBV AVOCATS was already a recognized player in international relations. The firm has been listed for several years by the embassies of the United States and Canada and advises and represents clients in business law, intellectual property law, and labor law in international cases. The creation of these partnerships with Chinese lawyers strengthens the firm’s international approach, now offering legal support in Europe, the United States, and China.

We will thus strengthen international advice and defense, help you navigate complex regulatory frameworks, manage the diversity of regulations and practices, comply with ethical and compliance standards across borders, and ensure compliance with IT processes and personal data processing.

For any questions regarding international matters, LBV AVOCATS is at your disposal.
